This lesson teaches students the STILT(s) acronym for poetry comparison, this could be used to teach comparison skills as well as teaching specific comparison points on these two poems from the Edexcel Relationship Collection. The lesson is challenging and aims to take students grades to the top levels. It includes engaging 'thunks', activities, guidance, exemplar paragraphs and guided questions and processes that could be applied to other pairs of poems. This lesson uses a paper thematically linked to 'Space' and takes students through a series of leading questions in order to help them break down the methods they can use to approach this final question on the Non Fiction paper. It also includes reference to PALS as a method of talking about authors ideas and perspectives. My year 11 group found this lesson enormously clarifying as a revision lesson.
